A specially commissioned oil painting on canvas interprets "Robert Clive and Mir Jafar After the Battle of Plassey 1757" in the style of Francis Hayman.

This painting recreates the historic meeting between Robert Clive and Mir Jafar following Clive's decisive victory at the Battle of Plassey in 1757. This triumph established British rule in Bengal and cemented Clive's reputation as a formidable military leader. Mir Jafar, one of the defeated Nawab's generals, he allied his troops with Clive and, in return for his support, was then appointed Nawab of Bengal.

Though Hayman was one of the first artists to explore Anglo-Indian subject matter, he never visited India. This may explain the somewhat awkward depiction of the elephant in the painting. The composition captures the pivotal moment of alliance and victory, showcasing the historical significance of this event.
